Understanding Scuba Diving Metrics
- Dive Depth: The maximum depth of your dive in feet. As per NOAA & PADI, nitrogen absorption increases with depth.
- Bottom Time: Duration spent at depth. The longer the time, the higher the nitrogen exposure.
- Surface Interval: Time on surface between dives, which helps off-gas nitrogen from your body.
- No-Decompression Limit (NDL): The maximum time allowed at a specific depth without mandatory decompression stops. Based on US dive tables.
- Residual Nitrogen Time (RNT): Time that reflects nitrogen left in your body from previous dives. Affects your repetitive dive safety.
- Safety Stop: Generally a 3-minute pause at 15 ft if diving deeper than 60 ft or close to your NDL.
